Go, Cards, Go!

We're on our way to becoming real "St. Louisans". We dropped the Mariners in a flash and have begun following the St. Louis Cardinals..."Cards", "Red Birds"..."awesome"...whatever you want to call them.

A sea of Red, White and sweat

I LOVE living here! Going to the game reminded me of some special Mariners games. Going to a game is only part of the fun. There's so much to see and do at this huge stadium. It kind of reminds me of some good ol' Fairbanks games. Except for a few differences: here, when you buy a ticket, there's actually a seat for you, and this stadium could hold the population of Fairbanks, and their little dogs, too. It's huge, and really cool! Did I mention it's cool?

After the game was Christian Family Day, where we got to enjoy a free concert and hear testimonies from a few neat people. One who shared was Albert Pujols (#5). He's their star player, and every time he hits a home run (two on Saturday) there are fireworks! Very cool. Also sharing a testimony was the wife preacher Fred Winters, who was shot and killed in Illinois this past March.

It was a record breaking hot day, and we were lucky enough to be in the 1st shaded row of our section. phew! The fire department was there hosing people down, the city safety folks were there giving out cup after cup of ice. Just like -40 doesn't stop the hockey fans, the heat doesn't stop these Red Bird fans. (gosh that sounds cheezy-but it's true)

It's no wonder this game is America's Favorite Pastime!
