We’re on the move- looking for a church.
We think we know what we want, but it seems like we don’t know what we don’t want until it’s right in front of us. Kind of like dating... You don’t even think to put certain things on your must have’s/can’t stand list until you realize that IT CAN HAPPEN TO YOU!
Church #1: Friendly.
We went Sunday morning and Sunday night. They called us on Monday (Wow, very nice). Pastor sent a letter on Tuesday (woah-didn't expect that); and they CAME TO OUR HOUSE on Wednesday. I wanted to say, “OK! YOU’RE WELCOME!” (sheesh! Get visitors much?) Indeed, we got the message, and are grateful that you noticed us.
They had a youth event in the evening called “Hot Dog Baseball”. In this fun little game, the ‘bases’ are ‘loaded’ with mustard, ketchup, and relish, respectively. The whole parking lot smelled like vinegar, and the kids looked like they were having a blast. Pretty cool place.
Then there’s church #2. This is where the dating analogy comes in.
It's possible that we are the only ones who noticed that we showed up. There was a holographic PowerPoint screen all over the ceilings, the floors, the walls…our faces.
They had a huge cafeteria, and coffee shop!! After we made our way down the tarmac, and outside the auditorium, the only greeting we got was a sign that read, “No food or beverages allowed in auditorium”. Sad- we just came from the cafeteria. That's almost a deal-breaker, right there.
Right out front, where one might expect to pick up a bulletin is instead, a “giving station”. It’s like a U-Scan for tithing. Church #2 is very creative. They're even holding a pet food drive. I thought I miss read the e-nouncement. Nope, I read it right. Not a FOOD drive, but a PET food drive. That was mildly surprising.
Parking attendants with whistles. Lots of whistling going on.
It was a beautiful, lovely, huge and amazing church, just not really our style. Ok, not AT ALL our style. But it truly was incredible.

Finding a church to call home is rough! At least it was for us and a few others we know. As far as the dating analogy, I know exactly what you mean! We ended up where we never would have imagined...a mega church where about 20,000 people attend every Sunday. Intimidating much? But they are great. Friend;y, passionate about truth and serving, etc. It was hard to give up our home church in AZ, but we're finally finding where God wants us to serve here after about a year and a half. Be patient!

Is there any way we can bring back the hi's and lo's? Like maybe on a weekly basis or something?
It's just too precious to miss days like: Faith's lo- we ran over a cat....
