visiting

The Uncles came to visit last weekend. What a great treat for my mom to see a couple of her brothers and sister-in-law.

heading "home"

Faith here: I'm in the Sea-Tac airport, waiting to depart, and anxious to get home to Fairbanks. I'm halfway there...but feel so far away.

I don't know what to say, except that Tim, my family, and I covet your prayers right now like never before. My mom has been battling cancer for nearly three years, and this past month the cancer has rapidly progressed. If you're interested in more details or background information, you can visit www.thestatus.com for the latest summary of Carol's condition. Click the link that says 'click here to access classic site'. Her last name: Henry; password: grass-february.

Some of our prayers are for comfort for my mom; wisdom and grace for all of us.

Lesson learned

The importance of planning ahead.

I've been working on a little craft project/gift for months...putting it off because I wasn't sure exactly how to do it. The time came, so I had to just go for it; I decided to venture into the unknown, determined to figure it out as I went.

Cut the fabric, sew on the hand-cut letters, check the spacing, etc.
One last check before I sew the 2 sides together. Looks good to me...

side 1: "congratulations"

side 2: "!yadhtrib yppah"
oops.
I took the rest of the night off from working on it.

The next day, and a few deep breaths later, Tim helped me make sure it was right, before anymore sewing.

"happy birthday!"

"congratulations"

Much better.
